RU High School

At the beginning of the school year Freedom Academy’s curriculum was emaciated. Specialty classes were cut, as well as positions. Even the Vice Principal’s hours were slashed to the nub. Unfortunately, he eventually resigned. These things were done in the name of tightening the budget. Yet the board continues to pursue ambitions of creating a new Charter High School. How does this make sense?

Many home owners in the neighborhood are vehemently opposed to the idea. Many Freedom parents are also against it. They consider it a royal umbrage. Hey, that’s a good name for the school--Royal Umbrage High School! Or should it be shortened to--RU High?

Perhaps it’s time to reverse gears and focus on the task at hand--making Freedom Academy a better school. Let’s fix Freedom Academy first, before entertaining grander ambitions.

The Mission

To provide a platform where parents, student, teachers, and concerned citizens can share information, voice descent, and organize to make Freedom Academy a better school. To openly expose detrimental policies and offer solutions that will serve the interests of the student body. To be a source of information for parents and the public on key issues affecting the community. To foster a living example of liberty, with all of the debate, bumps, bruises, and civic activism required to keep the spark of freedom alive.

Letter from the Editor

I wish to thank all parties that are providing material for this blog. The stories, comments, and topics are coming in so fast and furious that I can’t possibly keep up with them. I beg your patience, and promise to do my level best to make sure that your stories, opinions, and concerns find a voice. Please don’t become discouraged, because your submission haven’t been posted yet, and don’t stop contributing. Remember to take advantage of making unedited comments. While they don’t automatically pop-up, many readers (including myself) will click on the word comments below each post and read what you have to say. Thank you again for your participation.

Explaining The Blog Address

The address freedumbaka

dummies.blogspot.com was crafted for several reasons. Firstly, was the ethical issue of separating this blog from any appearance of being officially associated with the school--obviously it is not. Even though the blog title “Open Forum on Freedom Academy” speaks to the true nature of the blog, I wanted to insure that there was no confusion. Secondly, was the obvious phonetic self-deprecating humor--being that the public are often silent, treated like dummies and expected to sit back and capitulate to oligarchical decrees, (not that they are stupid, but that they are treated like dummies). Hence, it is a call for emancipation and liberation from autocrats ( i.e. free silent/dumb, AKA/also known as "dummies".) Lastly, (and this is more of an afterthought) as their is enough foolishness at Freedom Academy to go around, I say to all, “If the shoe fits, wear it.”
